2012 World Beer Cup Winners

IPA winners of course! The World Beer Cup is the largest global competition of its kind judged by an elite panel of international judges. First held in 1996, the bi-annual competition recognizes exceptional beer and brewers with this year featuring a mind-blowing 95 different beer style categories. World Beer Cup Fact Sheet

IPA's dominated in the most-entered categories with American-Style India Pale Ale at #1 with 150 entries and Imperial India Pale Ale at #2 with 93 entries with the average number of entries being 41.

While there are three distinct IPA categories in the competition, there were several IPA's that won awards in other categories as well.

And the IPA winners are....

Category 88: American-Style India Pale Ale, 150 Entries

Gold - DRIPA, which stands for Double Rice India Pale Ale

Silver - Head Hunter IPA out of Fat Heads Brewery in North Olmsted, Ohio

Bronze - Elevated IPA takes the bronze with its triple digit IBU 

Category 89: Imperial India Pale Ale, 93 Entries

Gold - Poor Man’s IPA takes the Gold, how ironic. 

Silver - Saint Arnold Endeavour

Bronze - Palate Wrecker

Category 68: English-Style India Pale Ale, 48 Entries

Gold - Man Beer

Silver - IP'Eh! So where do think this is brewed 'eh?

Bronze - Intercontinental Pale Ale
